Within a short stroll, the Moulin bar & restaurant Des Canards, offers a warm family welcome with the option to eat around the poolside terrace. Food is standard fayre ~ family value meals and children are welcome. Regular Jazz BBQ evenings take place here during July & August.

The area is ideally located in the centre of the Poitou Charente, reputedly the sunniest part of the Atlantic Coast.
The region is famous for sweet flavoured Mussels, farmed locally on the islands of Ré and Oleron, Snails known as ‘Cagouilles’ in Charentes and ‘Lumas’ in Poitou, Fois Gras and Oysters from the Marennes Oleron. Coastal restaurants will serve a variety of seafood platters including Langoustines, King Prawns and Clams and Moules Frites are a very popular lunchtime meal.
The sweet Charantaise Melon is plentiful and inexpensive in the summer months. A perfect refreshing ac-compliment as a starter or sweet to any meal. There are many small wine producers. Traditionally the grapes flavour a lovely crisp fruity white wine. The rosé and red wines are also very popular and whatever your choice they are excellent value for money.
History suggests that Pinneau, a sweet flavoured fortified wine of the region, was produced by accident when grape juice was mistakenly poured into a barrel of Cognac. You can drink it blanc or rosé. This chilled wine is perfect as an aperitif or with Frois Gras, Blue Cheeses or a fruity dessert.
